Found a good guide to mounts in Neverwinter here. As suspected, anything but the simplest and most basic mounts cost Zen, Ardent Coins or Tarmalune Trade Bars to buy - not that it really makes much of a difference other than speed anyway -although the Rank 3 mounts go up to 110% speed increase!

Yes i thought that would be the case but we can own a basic horse without having to spend real money?

I am sure there will not be a hugh difference between a basic horse and an inferno mount of awesomeness !!!!!!!!

They are just quicker than walking bur?

I also found this interesting quote from a page:

Mounts can be upgraded up to level 3 to increase their speed and reduce the chance of being knocked off them from attacks. The books required to train the mounts are acquired with Astral Diamonds. Mount Training II cost 768,000 AD While Mount Training III cost 2,064,000 AD

...not sure why you would want to spend that amount of AD on a speed upgrade when you can get mounts at rank 3 with far less time invested (or money spent) in getting it though - seems a bit silly.
