Ooo, Dishonored 2 is near! 11th November is the release date. Can't wait, absolutely loved the first game.

Is this one of those games where you have to have played the first one to make sense of it do you think?

Unlikely, given the type of game it is - but not having played the second one I cannot say for sure. Highly recommend it (if it's anything like number 1) - and the first one, which is probably dirt cheap by now.

I did really like it yes but then we started playing something else and i never went back to it

I take it you also haven't played Arkham City or Witcher 3 yet either (two of the greatest games of the last few years)?
