So, like, er, is this Homeworld? It didn't look very "Homeworldy".

Yea it’s a sort of prequel I think. In the game, the homeworld type people find a crashed ship with hyper drive technology in it which enable them to build the mother ship, I think this is the story as to how they find the crashed ships and eventually reach space.

Not sure about that, would have to have a look when I get home.

I really love homeworld one, thought two was ok and despise what they have done to it on the remake so not sure how I would feel getting this if it is gearbox. They seem to be more miss than hit at the moment.

Hmmmm.

It also looked very "old-school" in terms of graphics - like it was made 10 years ago or something. Anyway, if there is no actual space in this one then it looks to me very much like all the other generic RTS's.

The line of site and terrain features look a little different i.e. being on higher ground actually has an advantage. Apparently the atmosphere of the game is quite reminiscent of homeworld, not sure if I will get based on that rather flimsy pretext though.

The graphics look rather good to me considering you can zoom from orbital view to unit level.

I refer to honourable member to my initial statement ‘Not a cup of tea for the slimbob I wager’.

I think I might pick it up as I have been looking for a single player game for a bit of a fill in.

If that is the case, might I post some Slimbob recommendation of games I have played and enjoyed:

- Witcher 3: Possibly the best game I have ever played
- Doom: Old-school fun
- Dishonoured: Similar to Stalker, I would wager. Superb game with a sequel coming out soon (so this one is dirt cheap)
- Batman Arkham City: One of my all-time favourite games
- Mass Effect Trilogy: Been trying to get you to play this (these) for years - you would probably love it. Also another one of my all-time favourites
- Grim Dawn: Another favourite - superb ARPG
- Empyrion: you know you can actually play this, right?
- Deus-Ex Revision: A remaster of the original game
- Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines: Another one of my favourites. It's a masterpiece in game making
- Besiege: Cheap little time-waster game with physics galore and the focus being more on engineering contraptions to conquer various objectives - you would probably like this one quite a lot.

I might give Deus-Ex Revision a go at some point. That was a wicked game.

Indeed it was, that cannot be denied. it is also free for owners of the original (on Steam I think).

I suppose it was asking a bit much that you try something "new". Do none of those other recommendations sound worth pursuing to you Greg? Every one of those games I listed are my hot-picks of the last few years.

I might give mass effect a go at some point. But for some of the single player games I am going to wait until I have set up the AV system and projector downstairs because jen wants to watch a few of them.

Watch them? Why doesn't she just, you know, play them?

She likes watching some games. Mass effect is somewhat epic in scope isn't it? if so she is happy just to watch the story. I don't get it personally but there you go.

Weird, anyway, yes Mass Effect is indeed. The story is absolutely brilliant - I really wish someone would do a proper film trilogy of the game. Number 2 was my favourite - the suicide mission was probably ranked as one of my top 10 best gaming moments from over the years - mind you, the lead-up to it (the whole game) was simply brilliantly executed.
